With the forecast calling for more heavy rain we are giving you the opportunity to make up your week 8 match. Please note, the course is currently open and if you’re daring enough to get out there you still can. If you and your partner choose to make up your match we ask that your complete it by July 20th.

Next week we will be having a team event and there will be another post with more information. The following week we will be off for Bear tournament.

The closest to the pin contest for the E&F flight will be made up in a following week as well as the payouts for the first half team winners.

If you do plan on cancelling tonight we ask that you do cancel your tee time online so the club can see who is still playing.

Stay dry and cross your fingers for some sun in the upcoming weeks

Last week we wrapped up the first half of men’s league and we’d like to congratulate Team Ginsbury and Team Mead for winning. Team Ginsbury lead the first half collecting 99.5 points while team Mead was on their heels with 97.5 points. We will be paying out both teams this week so we ask that you please stick around after your match to collect your winnings.

With the start of the second half all teams will be starting on a clean slate. This means that if you and your team stunk it up in the first half there is still hope for you to win some money this year. The last six matches of the year will determine which teams win this second half. What about the first half scores? No need to panic, we are keeping the overall team scores for the year and will be paying out the overall league winners come year end.

Week 7 Highlights

Teams Ginsbury & Yee won easily this past week collecting 15.5 points each. Nate helped his own cause firing a 37 on the front to win his match and all 4 points. Dylan Lavallee stepped up and got 3 points for team Ginsbury in route to their first half victory. For team Yee it was Michael Lipson and Charles Masenas out of the E&F flights who got 7 out of the 8 possible points for their team. A shout out goes to Dave Evarts as he shot a 36 on the front while eagling the fifth hole on his way to victory.

This past week we mixed things up with our weekly payout and had a putting contest. No one was able to sink the 80 foot downhill sloping putt but I would like to congratulate Ron Boucher for taking home the $100 prize. Ron lagged it up to within 1 foot to have some poker money for the night.

This week’s contest will closest to the pin for E&F flights on the front, holes 4 and 8. As I’m sure you’ve all noticed tomorrow calls for rain again. Please make sure to check the website throughout tomorrow as we will be providing an update in case of a complete wash out. Cross your fingers that the rain will hold off and that we will be able to get out there. We hope everyone has enjoyed the first half and we look forward to the remaining weeks!

Looks like we are in for another nice week weather wise and our first “tasting” of the year!  Our new dinning manager Nicole Quinn has graciously coordinaed the upcoming tasting events for us, starting off with Glenlivet this week! Other events include;

June 15th

  • Glenlivet

June 22nd

  • Jameson Black Barrel
  • John Powers
  • Redbreast

June 29th

  • Aberlour
  • Chivas

These will be on the deck post-round starting at around 6:30/7pm.  Be sure to say hi and thank Nicole!

Scorecards and Skins this week:  scorecards this week will not be available until Thursday when the handicap revisions come out (1st and 15th of every month).  Skins this week will be on the front nine for flights A/B and players must play from the GOLD tees to qualify.

Play well and have fun!

We thankfully had another Thursday night without rain which seems pretty amazing considering what we’ve seen this spring. The course did see two plus inches of rain on Tuesday but it held up thanks to our superintendent Dave and his crew. I’d say the toughest obstacle this week wasn’t the wet conditions but the mosquitos that you had to fight off on each shot. I’ve never seen so many people come in after a round itching all over.

There were a couple lopsided matches this week and teams Ginsbury & Mead were on the winning side. Team Ginsbury collected 17 points with the help of shut out 4 point victories from Jacob Gelfenbein and Douglas Cauchon. Team Mead collected 17.5 points as Brad Keysar was getting up and down from everywhere to win 4 points and Sus Wijetunga continued his winning streak by getting 3 points. We have to give a huge shout out to Matt Beiber as he aced the 13th hole last night! Thank you Matt for the free drinks, I know everyone appreciated it.

This week’s event was skins for C&D flights. We had two winners David Deulca and Matt Dodds. Matt showed us that new technology doesn’t really make a difference as he was the only person to birdie the 3rd hole with his hickories to collect $80. David birded the hardest hole on the course number 7 to collect his $80. Congrats to the both of you for your birdies. If you need to collect your money please make sure to swing by the pro shop and touch base with Mike.

As mentioned last week, the standings are currently updated with every week besides week 2. You will have until June 22nd to make up this match, if you don’t play this match it will be recorded as a 2-2 split.

Lastly, please make sure to check the match schedule tab on the website for the new weekly events we are doing this year. Next week will be skins for A&B flights and the following week will be a putting contest. I hope everyone gets to enjoy the sun this weekend and hopefully you get out on the course.
