It’s finally here and it’s one of my favorite nights of the year. I get to reconnect with a lot of old friends and it’s always fun to listen to the banter as we go through the process. It’s also the official start to our golf season in Vermont.
What is the process?
If you’ve never been to Draft Night here’s how it works. At around 5:30 tonight, I’ll put up player names by flight on the windows in the bar at the club. When our Captains arrive they’ll be given a working copy of the Flight Assignments and pick a number from 1-14 out of a hat. That becomes their Team Number and Draft night selection order. After all 14 Captains have picked a player, the 14th Captain picks a second player and we descend back to the First Captain who will also pick two players. This continues until all 70 players are chosen for a team.
In addition to the all important Flight sheets, we’ll also be recording it all electronically. If you can’t make it to the club, or want to bring a tablet to keep track you can follow along here – Draft Night Selections 2016.
The Selection Process starts at 6pm assuming all our Captains are present. The club provides appetizers for us every year and they’re always great. We’ll also have a Beer Special and tonight’s Blue Plate Special is Chicken Piccata and it’s awesome.
I hope to see you tonight, let’s have some fun!
