This weeks Team Event will be our annual “Brad Hall One Club Memorial” tournament with a 5:30 shotgun start!  The concept is simple and may leave you wondering why you carry all of those clubs around….

  • Pick one club from your bag and 3 balls. If you happen to lose all three balls, head back to the clubhouse for a drink and a blue platte
  • Tee off with your team from your normal men’s league tee boxes (A/B – Gold, C/D – Blue, E/F – White).
  • Record individual scores for all team members on the scorecard and we will take the two lowest scores for your team score.
  • We will also crown the individual Champion of this event with what has traditionally been a pretty legendary bounty and bragging rights!

If you haven’t played the event before, keep an open mind, I was pessimistic the first time but it has become one of my favorites!

Happy 4th!

Looks like we are in for another nice week weather wise and our first “tasting” of the year!  Our new dinning manager Nicole Quinn has graciously coordinaed the upcoming tasting events for us, starting off with Glenlivet this week! Other events include;

June 15th

  • Glenlivet

June 22nd

  • Jameson Black Barrel
  • John Powers
  • Redbreast

June 29th

  • Aberlour
  • Chivas

These will be on the deck post-round starting at around 6:30/7pm.  Be sure to say hi and thank Nicole!

Scorecards and Skins this week:  scorecards this week will not be available until Thursday when the handicap revisions come out (1st and 15th of every month).  Skins this week will be on the front nine for flights A/B and players must play from the GOLD tees to qualify.

Play well and have fun!

Looks like the golfing god’s are once again bestowing a sun filled day upon us in between the torrential down-poors.  Should be a great night for golf, food, drink and some witty banter (or at least banter)!

There is a new page under “About The League” for league photos.  Team photos (courtesy of Mike Abate’s Photography) from the week one scramble can be found there.  For those of you new to the website and/or the internet in general, the link can be found on the right hand side of the website under the “quick links” section or at the top by clicking the little triangle next to “about the league” :).  We will be looking to add to the photo library, so if you have some league appropriate pics, feel free to send them to Kris, JD and I.

Last but not least, congrats to this years VNCC Member-Memeber winners, Tyler Troescher and Chris Bouchard took down the green jacket this past weekend.  I heard they won it with birdie on the final playoff hole, well done gentlemen!

Week 1

Tomorrow is the first week of individual match play and the first week for our brand new 4 point scoring system (think of it as 3 more points for being late)!  Be sure to check the match schedule/roster and contact your opponent for a time on Thursday to play your match.  You don’t have to play your match on Thursday but highly recommend.   You can only take advantage the the Weekly Prizes when you play on Thursday!  This week is Closest to the Pin on holes 4 and 8 for flights E and F!  If you’re in the E or F flight, make sure you play on the Front Nine!

The Pro Shop is now printing scorecards for every single match this year, and they’ll have current handicaps for the entire course.  Check in with the Starter (not the Pro Shop) for your scorecard.  If you have a sub, make sure to have him pick up the scorecard and if needed, ask the Pro Shop for help adjust the handicapped holes.  Subs should use the pre-printed card, but adjust for their own handicap.  After your round be sure to post your points on our scoreboard (locker room), add your signed scorecard in the box (member lounge) and post your adjusted score to GHIN (outside pro shop).

New Format

We’ve posted the scoring format in the locker room be sure to take a look.  If you’re planning to run from the parking lot to the tee box tomorrow, take a peek at the scoring page here for details on the new scoring  format.  We are excited about the new 4 point system as it should give guys more ways to win.  Who doesn’t like more ways to win?

19th Hole

Need more reasons to play on Thursday?  Most of our members already do, and we usually pack the bar.  Chef Justin provides complimentary apps starting around 7, makes sure we have a drink special and puts together a special meal deal just for us – the Blue Plate.  What’s a Blue Plate?  For our league, it’s a hearty meal that you can eat anywhere, offered at a lower price, and delivered in minutes.  That’s right, our goal was to get you food quickly and without hassle.

Above all, have fun and play well!
