Last week we wrapped up the first half of men’s league and we’d like to congratulate Team Ginsbury and Team Mead for winning. Team Ginsbury lead the first half collecting 99.5 points while team Mead was on their heels with 97.5 points. We will be paying out both teams this week so we ask that you please stick around after your match to collect your winnings.

With the start of the second half all teams will be starting on a clean slate. This means that if you and your team stunk it up in the first half there is still hope for you to win some money this year. The last six matches of the year will determine which teams win this second half. What about the first half scores? No need to panic, we are keeping the overall team scores for the year and will be paying out the overall league winners come year end.

Week 7 Highlights

Teams Ginsbury & Yee won easily this past week collecting 15.5 points each. Nate helped his own cause firing a 37 on the front to win his match and all 4 points. Dylan Lavallee stepped up and got 3 points for team Ginsbury in route to their first half victory. For team Yee it was Michael Lipson and Charles Masenas out of the E&F flights who got 7 out of the 8 possible points for their team. A shout out goes to Dave Evarts as he shot a 36 on the front while eagling the fifth hole on his way to victory.

This past week we mixed things up with our weekly payout and had a putting contest. No one was able to sink the 80 foot downhill sloping putt but I would like to congratulate Ron Boucher for taking home the $100 prize. Ron lagged it up to within 1 foot to have some poker money for the night.

This week’s contest will closest to the pin for E&F flights on the front, holes 4 and 8. As I’m sure you’ve all noticed tomorrow calls for rain again. Please make sure to check the website throughout tomorrow as we will be providing an update in case of a complete wash out. Cross your fingers that the rain will hold off and that we will be able to get out there. We hope everyone has enjoyed the first half and we look forward to the remaining weeks!

We thankfully had another Thursday night without rain which seems pretty amazing considering what we’ve seen this spring. The course did see two plus inches of rain on Tuesday but it held up thanks to our superintendent Dave and his crew. I’d say the toughest obstacle this week wasn’t the wet conditions but the mosquitos that you had to fight off on each shot. I’ve never seen so many people come in after a round itching all over.

Highlights

There were a couple lopsided matches this week and teams Ginsbury & Mead were on the winning side. Team Ginsbury collected 17 points with the help of shut out 4 point victories from Jacob Gelfenbein and Douglas Cauchon. Team Mead collected 17.5 points as Brad Keysar was getting up and down from everywhere to win 4 points and Sus Wijetunga continued his winning streak by getting 3 points. We have to give a huge shout out to Matt Beiber as he aced the 13th hole last night! Thank you Matt for the free drinks, I know everyone appreciated it.

This week’s event was skins for C&D flights. We had two winners David Deulca and Matt Dodds. Matt showed us that new technology doesn’t really make a difference as he was the only person to birdie the 3rd hole with his hickories to collect $80. David birded the hardest hole on the course number 7 to collect his $80. Congrats to the both of you for your birdies. If you need to collect your money please make sure to swing by the pro shop and touch base with Mike.

As mentioned last week, the standings are currently updated with every week besides week 2. You will have until June 22nd to make up this match, if you don’t play this match it will be recorded as a 2-2 split.

Lastly, please make sure to check the match schedule tab on the website for the new weekly events we are doing this year. Next week will be skins for A&B flights and the following week will be a putting contest. I hope everyone gets to enjoy the sun this weekend and hopefully you get out on the course.

The way this golf season has been going it was a pleasant surprise to see the sunshine last night. When I pulled into the parking lot and couldn’t find a spot I knew it was going to be a great men’s league night. There was a lot of great golf going on last night, I wish I could say the same but I was one of the lucky ones to have the fantastic sesame chicken blue plate.

Highlights

The most productive team of the week was team Handy collecting 15 out of 24 points. The D&E flights took 7 points on the night for team Handy as Chris Gregorie grabbed 4 points and Jose Negron took 3. There was some very good golf going on in the A flight as Bobby Webb came out guns a blazing birding the first two holes. Matt Beiber chipped in for birdie on the 8th hole to win his match and Travis Mott was pin seeking with four birdies and took down Ravi Velappan.

Our closet to the pin winners were from the C and D flight this week. Michael Sirotkin came in with a smile on his face saying he lost his match to Tyler Troescher but stuck it close on the 4th hole. His winning shot landed within five feet but the word is he missed the putt and halved hole. Bill Lawless was the closet to the pin winner on the 8th hole but will not be paid as he was subbing this week!

New this week was skins for E&F flights. We had two winners Michael Cheeseman and Keith Saunders. Michael must have hit one of his towering drives when he birdied the 5th hole to collect his $80 and Keith hit a great shot when he birdied the 8th for his $80. Congrats to the both of you for your birdies! By the time we received all the cards for skins it was close to 8:30 so if you didn’t receive your money please make sure to swing by the pro shop and touch base with Mike.

The standings are currently updated with scores from weeks 1, 3, 4. We currently have 15 matches that need to be played from the week 2 rainout. Please note, if your match is not played by June 22nd it will be recorded as a 2-2 split.

It was great seeing everyone last night and we hope you had a great night. Lastly, if you’re playing this weekend in the member-member we wish you the best of luck, hit them straight and try to stay dry.

What is happening tonight?

Tonight we will have two cash events on the front nine. The first will be making up the closest to the pin for C&D flights on holes 4 & 8. The other event is a new one and will be skins on the front for E&F flights.

How will skins work?

E/F flight players will fill out their score cards per normal with their gross scores. Skins will be paid out to the players who record the lowest score on a hole that no one else matches. Please note, we will only pay out skins to birdies or better. Pars do not win skins. At the end of your match please make sure to drop off your score card in the Men’s league box.

If you still haven’t made up your week 2 match like I haven’t yet, you have until June 22nd. If you don’t make it up before then your match will be considered a split. Get out there and play!

Lastly, for those of you who are playing in the member-member this weekend we wish you the best of luck! Keep a look out for the Cassidy’s as they are going for a three-peat!
